Rhode Island Commission on the Deaf & Hard of Hearing finds Point To Communicate

Pam Zellner, program manager for the Rhode Island Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing has purchased the Point To Communicate booklets. For many baby boomers who listened to rock and roll while standing in front of the speakers at concerts and for those who work with heavy machinery, hearing loss is a very serious problem. I have noticed more and more people are using hearing aids and have been witness to the frustration they have because the apparatus picks up the background noise as well as the person who may be talking. It makes being in a restaurant akin to being in a hen house – deafening. The other issue for many who use hearing aids is that the ear can swell after wearing the hearing aid for the entire day. By evening the individual no longer wants to wear it. The Point To Communicate booklets allow an individual to communicate, without the hearing aid, about essential needs when desired. Point To Communicate booklets are available for Medical Facilities like hospitals, Nursing Homes, and Home Health. Do you know someone who is hard of hearing?
